Ghaziabad – with a population of 2458525, per the 2011 census is the 3rd largest trailing just behind Kanpur and Lucknow, in Uttar Pradesh. Per excavations carried out just 2 km north of Mohan Nagar, at a location called – Kaseri- civilisation existed on the banks of the river Hindon as far back as 2500 BC.

Ghaziabad had the distinction of becoming a “Junction” on the Railways Map way back in 1870 with the Delhi being connected to Sind and Multan via Ghaziabad.

As Ghaziabad became a part of National Capital Region – NCR, the industrial growth got a different kind of boost. The area adjacent to Delhi became a residential hub giving an alternative to NOIDA and Gurgaon. This is the Trans Hindon Area of Ghaziabad. The area comprises of primarily 3 large residential settlements- Vasundhara, Vaishali and Indirapuram, and 1 – Industrial area – Sahibabad. This Trans Hindon Area has a population of nearly 5 lakh, and suffers from a very unhealthy air quality.

To ensure that the residents of the area become aware of their health, and work towards having a healthy lifestyle – Run To Breathe was envisaged.
